RIP, Robert Jordan

Boing, Boing is reporting that Robert Jordan has passed away. Jordan is the author of the immensely popular and Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels.

I have been following the series for 15 years and I'm deeply saddened that it will never be finished. When an author dies we are not only deprived of his presence in the world but also the presence of all of the characters which he has created.

You can't walk into Chapters and not see many of his books on display. It's sad when authors leave us before they could complete telling their stories.

But don't worry, dead authors have been publishing new books on a regular basis for a while now, thanks to some dark magic and people like Kevin J. Anderson. :-)

If they let Kevin J. Anderson get his hands on WoT I will lead the angry mob with torches and pitchforks to the offices of Tor books.

I had no idea. While I've felt that the Wheel of Time series has been dragged out a bit, I'm still a big fan and enjoy every book.

It's too bad that the last one that I bought will indeed be the last.
