Coffee and Tea Help Prevent Brain Tumours

Preliminary results show that coffee and tea are linked to lower incidents of brain tumours. This is excellent news considering how much of the stuff I drink.

Brew, Not Buy Your Own Tea

Not that this should come to a shock to anyone but researches have found that brewed tea is much healthier than the bottled variety.  Mostly due to the fact that home brewed teas have up to 20 times the polyphenols, antioxidants which are believed to fight cancer, than the store bought kind.  Plus, a cup of tea at home will cost you about 10 cents for the tea bag and water while a bottle of tea will run you over $1.

Tea's Comeback in the USA

Another good article from the Atlantic on American's renaissance of tea.  Since the 70's there has been a race to the bottom to produce a cheap tea in a bag but now it seems that better tasting loose leaf teas are on the rise.  For bagged teas I still recommend Lipton Yellow Label.

Strengthen Your Teeth with Green Tea

Tea Flavoured Hot Chocolate

From Lifehacker: add a little interesting flavour to your hot chocolate by adding some tea. They suggest using vanilla or peppermint. While personally I think this sounds kinda gross I do love peppermint hot chocolate so I may have to give this a try.

Why do Teapots Dribble?

Did you ever notice that when you poor a cup of tea that the first and last little bits end up splashing all over the table and not in your cup? Well so did researchers in France. Luckily they've cracked the code.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen had to do with the predicament. A friend mentioned they could solve this issue by pouring the tea faster. Only to have the teapot open and all the tea rush out at once all over the table.

Tea Flavoured Coke

Oh those wacky Japanese are at it again. You'll soon be able to buy green tea flavoured Coke in Japan. Rival Pepsi is going to release a basil flavoured version of their cola. You know, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Use Tea to Flavour Coffee

Rather than buying those flavoured coffee beans the folks at Lifehacker suggest throwing some herbal tea in with your grounds. I'm going to have to try this with some peppermint tea.

Use Green Tea to Fight Gum Disease

Researchers have found that for every cup of green tea you drink it lessens your chance of gum disease. I'm a fan of loose leaf green tea but you can buy the more convenient tea bag variety at your local grocery store.

Green Tea Varieties

A nice run down of the different varieties of green tea. I had some very nice green tea that Guo and Arthur brought back from China. Couldn't tell you what the type was as I don't read Mandarin.
